Life is not a Fairy Tale,
but I know this story will have a happy ending.
Just like in the children's Fairy Tale "The Princess and the Pea," I too knew that something was not right. Only I'm not a real princess and there wasn't a pea under 20 mattress's and 20 down comforters. The pain and discomfort I had been experiencing was actually cancer. On Friday September 2, 2011, I was diagnosed with Invasive, Moderately to Poorly Differeniated Adenosquamous Carcinoma or in layman's terms, Cervical Cancer. I created The Princess and the "C" as a way to share the experiences I am about to have. I also know that it will be theraputic for me to write about my thoughts, feelings and experiences as I begin this journey. If you would like to read about my experiences, please visit my blog. I do have to warn you that I am NOT going to sugarcoat anything, so if you have a weak stomach, you might want to skip some of the posts! I'm just being honest.
To all of my family and friends, thank you for rallying behind me in my fight to kick cancer's ass. I know my life is not a Fairy Tale, but I do know my story WILL have a happy ending.
Love, Britni
